Dolly-Parton
Dolly Parton, who was born in Locust Ridge Tenn. on January. 19. 1946 into a very humble family of 12 children eventually included, discovered early that she could escape her hardships through a vivid imagination. Before learning how to write and read Dolly Parton had already begun to compose her own songs. Within 8 years she was playing her first guitar. In the age of 11, she began to sing at the Knoxville Tennessee radio station. Gold Band Records is a small, independent label. While in high school, she established herself in the local community, however her ambition was bigger. In 1964, the day after her high school graduation, she relocated to Nashville. Dumb Blonde (both 1967) and Something Fishy were among her first Monument Records chart-topping records. Porter Wagoner, a syndicated TV show host in the late '60s, was looking for a singer for his program. Parton got her first gig in the year 1967, signed with RCA Records by 1968, she joined the Grand Ole Opry. The band split in 1974 when her solo songs such as Joshua Coat of Many Colors and Jolene outsold the collaborations. The two split in 1974, Parton wrote the song I Will Always Love You for Wagoner and it climbed to Number. #1 for the first time in 1974.
