R&B Singer whose I Feel for You version by Prince has been a massive hit. I Feel for You from Rufus, in which she's also the frontwoman, is an extremely well-loved. Rufus is her other band. Khan was raised as the daughter of a Catholic. She was a student at the primary school of Saint Thomas the Apostle Church located in Hyde Park. Her grandmother, she said was the one who introduced her to jazz music as a small child, was responsible for her musical passion. Khan was an avid blues and rhythm fan when she was a teenager. In her twelfth year she was a member of the Crystalettes along with their sister Taka. Khan as well as her mother's daughter Connie took part in marches for civil rights during the latter half of the 60s. Connie was an active fan and good friend of Fred Hampton. Fred Hampton is the son of Chicago resident and Black Panther Party member. Khan has said that regardless of the fact that a lot of claim that she got the name Chaka when she was in the Panthers. Her identity as Chaka Adunne Aduffe hostarhi Karifi became hers at the age of 13 old from a Yoruba Baba. In 1969 she quit the Panthers, having previously been a student at Calumet High School. She was a performer in Chicago with Cash McCall and his group Lyfe with Hassan Khan. Chaka and Hassan Khan were married in the 1970s.
